A fugitive breaks into Queen Vivienne's bedroom on the worst night of her life—and their secret alliance becomes forbidden desire and a deadly plan: Lydia must become the King's mistress to survive, while Vivienne must help kill him to escape. By day they pretend to be enemies, by night they are lovers plotting a royal murder—but when one tyrant falls, another takes his place, and the Queen and the fugitive must burn down the kingdom that tried to own them, or die trying.
